Chicago Transit Authority / CTA:

Since 2005, Preon has provided and commissioned custom power conditioners for 35 stations in the CTA’s light commuter rail system. The CTA is the second largest light rail commuter system in the US. The Powernetic custom UPS (uninterruptible power supply) are manufactured in England exclusively to the CTA’s robust specification. Redundant power is provided by converting the DC (direct current) third-rail power to AC (alternating current) through an inverter. This power is supported by a redundant power path: electric utility power-to DC-to AC via a UPS. Critical power is required for the traffic control system. Preon provides on-going maintenance and trouble-shooting for the 35 units sold and will also be providing additional units as eventually all 120 stations are converted to Powernetic custom UPS.
